Master Plan Will Help Shape Ludlow's Future

Over the next two years, Ludlow citizens, business owners, and town officials will be working to develop a long-range master plan that will guide decisions facing Ludlow over the next 10 to 20 years. The goal of the plan is to identify a future development scenario for the community’s land use, economic development, housing, open space, energy, and infrastructure needs.

Citizens will have multiple opportunities throughout the course of the project to participate in the planning process. The public is invited to attend a Master Plan Committee meeting Thursday, May 21, 7:00 p.m. at Ludlow Town Hall, where upcoming steps will be presented and public comments will be heard. Stakeholder interviews will be held in June, and a community survey will be released this fall. Citizens are also encouraged to participate in a weekend-long visioning session scheduled to be held November 13-14, 2009.

The Ludlow Master Plan Committee, formed in April 2009, consists of 15 volunteers— representatives from key town boards, agencies, businesses, the youth community, and the general public—who will oversee development of the master plan. The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission will be working with the committee to facilitate the plan.
